    Purple teaches essential story development of character, theme, plot, conflict and resolution. Adapted as a professional development workshop for teachers and administrators.

Collaborations

  • After the Planning Session-With retired educator, Ruth H. Katz, this workshop addresses the pros and cons of an arts-in-education residency. Lesson plans and other 'how-to' information provided to participants
  • Dawn of a New Beginning, Magical Creatures & Circle Songs, In Search of Our Gardens-In collaboration with visual artist, Karen Sevell Greenbaum, this K-12 multi-discipline professional development art/literacy workshop utilizes guided imagery and music. Art and literacy are the cornerstones of their workshops, which are designed to produce drawing, collage and writing poetry, short stories, monologues and plays. In Search of Our Gardens, a heritage/immigration workshop utilizes personal memorabilia, photographs and other personal items to produce a handmade book with poetry and stories.
  • A Sense of Place-(a multi-disciplined residency)-P.V.C. Middle School, Croton-on-Hudson, NY (poetry, fiction, drama, movement, paper making, visual art-ceramics).
  • Out of the Box into the Land of Purple-Professional development workshop designed for teachers K-12 utilizing guided imagery, music and movement. This was a collaborative effort with choreographer, Susan Henle-Christensen.
  • Before the Word (a multi-disciplined residency)-P.V.C. Middle School, Croton-on-Hudson, NY (poetry, fiction, drama, movement, paper making, visual art-ceramics).
  • Children of the Sun/East Meets WestSummer program for literacy-based after-camp project developed for elementary students. Literature about northeast Native Americans, Chinese, Japanese cultures shared with students.
  • From the Inside Out: Journeys into Family HistoryLiteracy-based project developed for middle school students. A collaborative effort with visual artist, Karen Sevell Greenbaum.
  • Hidden Journeys (a multi-disciplined approach to the study of northeast Native American culture)Woodside Elementary School, Peekskill, NY (poetry and creation of myths, movement, mask making, visual art, creation of stand-alone panels used as sets during presentation).
  • Mysteries Under the Canopy (a multi-disciplined approach to the study of the rainforest)-Uriah Hill Elementary School, Peekskill, NY (poetry, movement, mask making, book making, visual art-mural).
