The appointment on September 13, 2006 of Poet Laureate of Greenburgh, NY honors
Ms. Connor-Bey's body of work, her contributions to the field of poetry,
and her encouragement and support to poets of all ages. The two-year
non-political appointment will enable Connor-Bey to continue what she
has been doing as well as find and create and help develop new venues
for poetry. Occasionally, she will create new poems and read at Town
meetings.
Town Supervisor, Paul Feiner said of the two year appointment, "This is a way
of honoring and saluting somebody who is exceptional, but in a nonpolitical
position."
