GUIDED IMAGERY: Tuning In™
Strategies to Free the Mind through Creative Expression

TUNING IN™ incorporates carefully selected readings, music, writing and art materials to assist in exploring the imagination.

Intended Workshop Outcomes -- Participants will:

*Gain an understanding of how Guided Imagery utilizes the right side of the brain allowing for easy access for creative writing and drawing.
* Draw and write spontaneously and with ease.

ALL ABOUT ME™
Communicating Through Art & Literacy

ALL ABOUT ME™ is a workshop which provides an alternative teaching strategy for these students to explore the positive aspects of themselves and increase self-esteem.
Intended Workshop Outcomes-- Participants will:
* Acquire skills and techniques to allow students to creatively express themselves through art and writing.
*Acquire insights about their students' positive attributes.
*Create an introspective art collage.
*Create free-form abstract writing using "free writing" technique

LEARNING TO SEE™
Integrating Art, Literacy, Art History, Social Studies & Math

LEARNING TO SEE™ is an engaging arts-in-education experience to help students appreciate curriculum utilizing contemporary master artists, their works and the creation of the works in reaction to their historical times. This interdisciplinary workshop will provide teachers with a new twist for integrating five curriculum areas through hands-on exercises and group discussions.

Intended Workshop Outcomes -- Teachers will:
* Examine and acquire deeper understanding of the selected masters and their art works through a historical lens.
* Create artwork that mirrors the style of the master artists.
* Create a written piece complimenting the style each master artist.

THE LAND OF PURPLE™
Integrating Art, Literacy and Social Development

THE LAND OF PURPLE™ is a fantastical workshop that takes teachers into an imaginary world that they literally hold in the palm of their hands. Using guided imagery as the vehicle to enter this magical world, where there are no straight paths and everything appears in different shades of purple. The Quest - to find the singing lady.

Using the Hero's Journey full-circle structure, teachers will work independently and in groups for art and writing exercises as they:

* Develop characters
* Develop plots
* Learn to use the 'what if' way of approaching a story
* Create a visual story-map showing how the quest to find singing lady was accomplished

Intended Workshop Outcomes -- Participants will:
* Creative ways to teach story structure
* Innovative approaches to explore everyday life using myth, fairy tales and folktales as metaphors

Utilizing THE LAND OF PURPLE™ techniques, students will:

* Engage in critical thinking for creative problem solving
* Learn team building
* Learn to work collaboratively
* Learn roles of leadership to use effectively in the real world of work

POEMBOOKS: Building the Toolkit™
Book Designing, Art & Literacy

In this culminating workshop, participantss will:
* Write a "Reflections" piece on their workshop experiences
* Design two hand-made books to house all of the art and writing they created within the workshops
* Be able to share these collections with students to function as a model for student book designing
